Port Jefferson

Port Jefferson is a charming waterfront village known for its rich history, vibrant community, and scenic beauty. Originally inhabited by the Setauket Native American tribe, the area was settled by European colonists in the mid-1600s. The village's strategic location along the Long Island Sound made it a prominent port for shipbuilding, whaling, and trade during the 18th and 19th centuries. Many of the prominent buildings and homes still standing in the village belonged to notable sailors and shipbuilders in the area.
